Slow sectors on the hard disk are formed as a result of the degradation of the surface hdd. This process occurs gradually in the process of using the disk. Over time, such sectors may even become battered. Disk Revival blocks slow sectors. Thanks to this, your files are only on fast hdd sites, which increases the speed of working with them. In addition, due to the fact that slow sectors are blocked, read / write operations do not occur with them. Therefore, they do not overwrite to holes, which reduces the probability of their transformation into broken sectors .

These sectors can greatly affect the speed of the disk. Because the time to read data from them is more than from normal sectors. Accordingly, the blocking of such sectors allows to speed up the work of a computer or laptop .

Is it possible to remove or fix disk sectors?

Unfortunately, no, technically it is not possible to remove sectors, fix or hide them. Even remap here does not help. You can only block them with files, which is what my program does.

It is possible to cut off slow sectors, but this is only useful if they are located in groups in several sections of hdd, and not smeared with an even layer over the entire disk. But for such a procedure, you must be able to accurately split disks into partitions.

About the average speed

For the hard-wearing hard drives, the average speed is not exactly an objective parameter. For example: take 100 sectors with a speed of 10 MB / s and 3 sectors at a speed of 0.01 MB / s, and calculate the average arithmetic speed: (100 * 10 + 3 * 0.01) / 103 = 9.7 MB / s Now imagine that you are opening a file that occupies 10 fast sectors and two slow sectors (0.01 MB / s).
